Hello, and thanks for visiting my web site.
Democracy is a fragile thing, and an active citizenry is key to its
survival. I rely on you for guidance, insight, and advice.
I was first elected to the Maryland General Assembly in 1994 and
re-elected in 1998, 2002, and 2006 to represent the 11th District in
the House of Delegates. In the legislature, I have several
assignments. I am Deputy Majority Leader, and I serve on the Health
and Government Operations (HGO) Committee and Chair the subcommittee
on Government Operations. I am House Chair of the Joint House-Senate
Committee on Health Care Delivery and Finance and also serve on the
Administrative Executive Legislative Review (AELR) Committee.
You can review my legislative record by clicking the 'Legislative Summaries' link
or by visiting the Maryland General Assembly web site.
I got involved for many reasons. My experience as an emergency
medicine physician gives me first hand knowledge of the challenges our
community faces: the effects of drugs, tobacco and alcohol; the impact
of environmental pollution; crime and violence; inadequate education
and jobs; and the problems everybody has when dealing with the health
care system. I also got involved because my wife, Shelley, and I have
3 children, and we want them to grow up in the best world we can
provide.
Your ideas are critical, and I urge you to share those thoughts with
me and with all your elected officials. Please stay in touch, and I'll
do the best job I can for you!
